Just a note to thank you both for teaching me the skills to enable me to fly RC Planes. Your friendly nature, patience and technical assistance made my experience very enjoyable, I’ve also met a great bunch of people with the same common interest. I’m sure that I will enjoy this hobby for many years to come and I look forward to practising my skill at your flying field. I would strongly recommended that anyone who would like to take up flying Remote Control Planes to seek out your skills and services.
Once again thank you for imparting your knowledge and skill on to me.
I can honestly say that your training was the best investment of my time, energy and money in Radio Controlled flying. I now have the confidence that I am totally in control of my RC plane. Your belief in me and you allow me to fly in the windy condition (wind is blowing about at 20km/h) on the end of second day of my training have increased my flying days/time. I am now flying even in those days with a wind of about 10km/h with confidence and authority. Believe me; I will not try any flying in 15-20km/h winds without you at my side.
I want to tell you how much your instructions have helped me. I needed concentrated training in RC flying. From the very first lesson, your extraordinary amount of patience and the ability to keep calm and relax, and never appear to have irritated at my repeated mistakes have given me the confidence that I needs to control the airplane and fixed my mistakes. I have never flown a professionally trimmed RC plane before, so what a joy and happy to fly your trimmed aircraft. My flying now is with purpose and I know what I’m doing wrong, and know how to fix it so far. And most of all, you teach me the correct way to fly and have fun while learning.
Having fun with flying during my training; I am the student who was responsible for the tips of the month number 2 and 3 in the newsletter 7_Jan_2011. During that second day of my training with you, my aircraft is floating correctly and lined up directly down the centerline of the runway, everything is perfect and the aircraft land beautifully, wrong it’s in bits due to my full down elevator controls on landing! And I was still thinking the twelve volt starter power will turbo charged the glow plug.
Having fun with dead stick during my training; ahh…. the servo. I have double the amount of flight time. Yes, that second day of my training, in one session, I reported to you that the throttle is not working any more, you calmly try everything to fix it, but still the throttle is not working either with the master nor the slave/student transmitter, then you handed back me the control and instructed me to fly circuits after circuits till the fuel run out (that give me twice the amount of flying time than usual) and once the fuel ran out you calmly glide and land on the Hudson river. The photo of that burnt servo was in Newsletter_8_Feb_2011. So much fun to fly and learn dead stick!
I have no hesitation in saying to anyone who wants to fly the proper way in RC flying; RCFlightTraining with you is the way to go. I am now more relax and enjoy my flying more than ever.
My name is Peter Anderson, I am a trainee flyer with RC Flight Training. Keith has been teaching me how to fly with my Sky Raider trainer plane. He has helped me all the way of how to build planes through all the stages as well as flying them.
A couple of weeks ago, I rang Keith and said Keith, I want to buy a big trainer with a 4 stroke motor, can you recommend one. The next day he rang me and said I have found a beauty, a Senior Telemaster with a 91 x 4 stroke motor, I said order me one please. Two days later he had it delivered to his home. We arranged for me to pick it up the next day; but I was unable to come around, so Keith said can I make a start on it, I laughed and said go for it, Keith enjoys building them as much as flying them.
The next day I went around to pick it up and when I entered his lounge, I said bloody hell, it was huge ( 8ft wingspan) and more than half built. A couple of days later I took it to the airfield to finish it off. Keith and I spent the rest of the day working on it to fly it, Keith was hanging out to have the maiden flight and it flew fantastic.
I would like to thank Keith for all his help, I am really happy with the plane. I really enjoy the day at the airfield, it’s all good fun.
oday the 9th of October 2010, I qualified to solo as an rc pilot. I had originally bought a foam electric plane, took it out to the football oval….flew it for 20 seconds….and crashed it. I knew I had a lot to learn when it comes to flying a plane PROPERLY. I looked online and found Keith’s website www.RCFlightTraining.com.au and saw that he offers a flying course. I gave him a call and met up for a chat about flying. From the word go I was already learning a lot from Keith AND Wayne (his son). I got myself a sky raider nitro trainer as Keith recommended them as a very good trainer to learn with. I can now vouch for that!!! Brilliant aircraft!!! I started flying at the field connected to the buddy box….control was taken over MANY MANY TIMES!!!! I was sooooo nervous that a couple of times I think my heart stopped!! But eventually after the second day I was starting to understand the art of radio controlled flying.
Still making plenty of mistakes and misjudgements, Keith and Wayne kept teaching me the importance of circuits in the air and how important it is to put your aircraft in the right line in order to land properly, and to improve your orientation. As a solo pilot now….I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! You almost paint a picture in your head…and in the sky like a road intersection. You learn to fly in the direction you WANT the aircraft to fly in. And in the correct line for a successful landing. By the third day Keith and Wayne were allowing me to make my own landings as I was getting better at controlling the aircraft in a smooth descent and keeping the wings level to the ground on the final approach to the runway.
Now….to the interesting part…..Today I was taught to take off by myself and get the aircraft in the air, get the altitude up BEFORE TURNING (something which took me a few goes to get used to as I was turning too soon), then make the turn and go into your circuit. I then brought the plane in….nice and slow and level…and landed my aircraft…only to realise once I looked back that Keith and I weren’t connected via the buddy cord!!!! Holy moses you should have seen the look on my face!!!! One of disbelief and complete horror!!!! Everyone was laughing and congratulated me on completing my first solo flight!!! Anyway….after about 15 minutes of letting my heart rate go back down to normal….I took the plane up again….this time KNOWING I was solo!!! I did well and made a successful landing. By the end of the day I actually landed on the runway!!
For my final statement I will say this….the training I received from Keith and Wayne was worth EVERY CENT!!! I was taught how to fly PROPERLY, I kept my plane in one piece with no crashes or damage, and above all I achieved my goal. To learn how to fly and have fun!!! I highly recommend training with Keith and Wayne as it is as much fun as it is exciting and educational. And next pay I will be joining the group and will continue to fly with the crew. Great bunch of guys to fly with and I would like to extend a very warm thank you to Keith and Wayne for putting in so much effort to pursue this truly exciting sport in radio controlled flying and teaching people like me to fly. I am truly grateful. Cheers guys and safe flying 😀
My name is Simon Crowther a resident of Ferntree Gully.I had the wonderful experience receiving flying lessons with Keith from RC Flight Training. Here I learnt all the fundamentals of flying and was flying Solo confidently within four lessons all done without causing a single bit of damage to my aircraft.Keith and Wayne are excellent RC pilots and the whole time you are flying with them they create a relaxed and supportive environment the vital ingredients I believe you need to learn how to fly. From this valuable experience I have walked away a confident flyer and have made two new great friends within Keith and Wayne to fly with. All in all I wouldn’t do it any other way.
